Established in 2013 with a small group of primary-school- aged students set up within the local church hall, Mathstar Tuition now enrols over 150 students at our East Keilor centre. We currently offer mathematics and English tuition for students from Grades 1 to Year 12 to build on the foundations required for literacy and numeracy success as well as assist with school homework as required.
Mathstar Tuition provides after-school and weekend tutoring in the form of one-on-one private tuition or tuition in small groups tailored to each student's individual needs.
With the current COVID19 situation we have transitioned to online sessions via video conferencing and an online collaborative whiteboard. Once restrictions ease, we will continue to offer both in-centre and online sessions.
About the founder
Sheryn completed a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Linguistics. She spent 2 years in Japan teaching English and returned to work for Kumon as a Franchise Consultant training instructors in the instruction of maths and English and supporting them in the set up and running of their franchise business. She transitioned into the role of the franchisee but after noticing that superhuman calculation speed didn’t help students develop critical thinking skills to comprehend and solve worded problems effectively, she left Kumon to set up her own tuition centre in 2013.
